The professorship is affiliated with the NanoSYD Centre in Sønderborg. The starting date is 1. November 2024 or as soon as possible.
The Mads Clausen Institute is a modern and international institute with close to one hundred employees and with students from all parts of the world. The institute hosts the centres NanoSYD, Nano Optics, CMAC, CAPE and POLIMA. The NanoSYD centre with about 25 coworkers is located at SDU’s campus in Sønderborg in the inspiring building of Alsion, which is a centre for science, culture and learning in the heart of Sønderborg and perched on the strait of water separating the island of Als from the mainland. The center is led by Professor Horst-Günter Rubahn. The university has very close and historically grown bonds to the industrial environment of Sønderborg, the municipality and the region of Southern Denmark.
Within the last five years, the NanoSYD Centre has excelled in upscaling innovative activites within characterisation and micro/nanofabrication of new materials as well as developing the basis for future nanophotonic devices. We plan to expand our activities more systematically from component development to upscaled devices in the nearest future and the new professor will be a cornerstone for that development.
