PLAY A KEY ROLE IN EXPERIMETAL PROJECTS THAT DRIVE ADVACEMENT IN CLEAN ENERGY

At Seaborg Technologies we are developing a nuclear power plant concept fundamentally different from what exists today. By bringing to market an advanced molten salt reactor we are making nuclear an inexpensive, sustainable, and scalable technology that can make fossil fuels a thing of the past and revolutionise energy markets. The opportunity to make an impact on climate change and provide millions of people with cheap and accessible energy is what inspires all of us every day.

Creating an innovation that can impact the world isn’t easy and requires a diverse team bringing together a range of talents and perspectives. We know that we cannot do this alone, so we work closely with regulators, shipyards, academic institutions, and the nuclear industry from all over the world to develop technologies and materials so we can produce an advanced floating nuclear power plant.

This is your chance to become part of a collaborative research environment where you can chart an uncommonly diverse career and help change the world. Seaborg’s work environment allows for great influence, the possibility to take on responsibility, and personal growth but also demands flexibility.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Project Engineer with a passion for designing and building test setups. In this role you will lead and support the entire lifecycle of experimental setups and molten salt loops, from initial design to decommissioning. You will be part of a dynamic prototyping team where you will have the chance to do both design work and hands-on activities on cutting-edge technology. Your contributions will directly impact materials qualifications, component selection, and validation of design solutions of the molten salt reactor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Plan, design, and fabricate custom test rigs at different scales, in collaboration with a cross-functional engineering team.

  • Select and integrate together standard components like pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and instrumentation.

  • Manage the procurement of components and suppliers’ relationships.

  • Oversee and help with the assembly, commissioning, and operations of the test setups.

  • Manage project timelines, budget, and resources to ensure timely delivery.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of design activities, project deliverables, and test findings.

  • Troubleshoot design and performance issues, proposing and implementing effective solutions.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and company safety and quality requirements.

PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

  • You hold a BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar fields.

  • You have 3+ years of experience in the industrial sector or applied research, product development, and prototyping.

  • You have experience with flow system development, including design and procurement of standard components like pumps, valves, piping, heat exchanges, pressure vessels, and instrumentation.

  • You have hands-on experience with different types of fabrication methods and their application.

  • You can manage projects effectively, including planning, scheduling, communication, and resource allocation.

  • Familiarity with CAD software and simulation tools. Previous use of SolidWorks is a plus.

  • Experience with molten salts or high temperature systems is an advantage.

PERSONAL COMPETENCIES

  • You excel at problem-solving and thrive in fast-paced, hands-on environment.

  • You take full ownership of responsibilities, driving initiatives forward with energy and a strong sense of accountability.

  • You are an effective communicator and active listener, skilled at understanding and aligning with stakeholder needs. Comfortable interacting with a diverse range of technical and non-technical colleagues.

  • You are not afraid of challenges and drive finding the solutions while adhering to regulatory frameworks and organizational guidelines.

  • You respect compliance and have high safety standards.

  • You are adaptable and resilient in environments with constant change, thriving on finding structure amid chaos.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • The chance to work on ground-breaking technology that will impact the global energy landscape.

  • Working closely with globally acknowledged experts in the field.

  • An international and diverse team.

  • Personal and professional development opportunities and support.
