Project Manager, Research and Analysis, Decarbonisation

Global Maritime Forum, Copenhagen

Apply before 31 January 2025

Do you want to join our mission to make the maritime industry more sustainable for both people and the planet? You have the chance to become part of our international, diverse team of purpose-driven individuals at an organisation that hosts one of the world's most important maritime events.
We are looking for a Project Manager (full-time position, starting as soon as possible) to help us further move the decarbonisation agenda for the maritime industry as part of the Research and Analysis unit.

About Global Maritime Forum
The Global Maritime Forum is a Copenhagen-based international not-for-profit organisation. We bring leaders from across the maritime value chain together with influential decision-makers and opinion shapers to tackle collective challenges and develop new solutions and ideas for action. Our organisation is professional and dynamic, and we have room for both the social and the serious.

The Global Maritime Forum is behind several initiatives, such as the All Aboard Alliance, the Poseidon Principles, and the Getting to Zero Coalition. Our work spans reports, webinars, workshops, and much more. Our yearly trademark event, the Annual Summit, brings together 200-250 top decision-makers, thought leaders, and experts from across the maritime value chain and beyond to shape the future of global seaborne trade to increase sustainable long-term economic development and human wellbeing. We are 45 colleagues based in Denmark, Sweden, UK, Belgium, Switzerland, and Germany.

About the role
The position is with the Research and Analysis team, a unit within the Decarbonisation department. The team focuses on providing innovative insights to a range of target audiences in the private and public sector, with the objective of helping them deliver shipping's energy transition. The team also works closely with and provides analytical support to the other teams within the department. Our work covers economics, policy, and technical domains, and involves a broad range of stakeholders at all stages of the process. Examples of previous or ongoing work include tracking the progress of the global green shipping corridor movement, exploring country's role in decarbonising international shipping (1 and 2), and mapping potential options for collaborative fuel procurement.
As a Project Manager at Research and Analysis, you will help develop and manage several initiatives within our analytical portfolio. This includes our ongoing work on pilot and demonstration projects and our work tracking progress of shipping’s energy transition.

Your tasks will include:
•    collecting and analysing qualitative data, including through stakeholder interviews, desk research and surveys, and through organising and facilitating workshops,
•    contributing to writing reports and analytical pieces based on a synthesis of stakeholder input,
•    convening and coordinating stakeholders, being the primary point of contact with consultants and project partners, and
•    other project management activities, including making sure that projects make progress and that the timelines are proactively developed and met.

About you
•    You possess good analytical and writing skills and ideally have contributed as an author to published reports.
•    You are quick to familiarise yourself with new topics and can synthesise and communicate complex information in a clear way to a variety of audiences.
•    You are familiar with different approaches to analysing sustainability transitions and have a demonstrated interest in socio-technical systems.
•    You are well-versed in qualitative research methods, familiar with or willing to learn the basic quantitative methods and understand their limitations and advantages.
•    You have great organizational skills and can adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
•    You have excellent interpersonal skills, believe in a collaborative and compromise-seeking approach to solving climate challenges, and seek to understand different points of view.
•    You are creative and curious, and thrive in interdisciplinary, multicultural environments.
Required skills and qualifications
•    2-4 years of professional experience with sustainability in the maritime, energy, climate, or related field, in a role that combines project management tasks with a high degree of involvement in the content (conceptualisation, writing analytical pieces)
•    A completed bachelor’s or master’s degree in sustainability, environmental management and policy, business and economics, public policy, technology management, or a related interdisciplinary field
•    Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English. Additional language skills a plus.

What we offer
The start date for the position is as soon as possible. The position is a full-time permanent position.
The Research and Analysis team works remotely and is based in Sweden and the UK, with regular visits to our office in Copenhagen. Preference will be given to candidates residing in or around Copenhagen, London, or Stockholm, or candidates willing to relocate to Copenhagen (work permit assistance will be provided).
