Foodjob Nordic is looking on behalf of Lallemand EMEA Baking for a Manager responsible for Quality Assurance and Quality Control to continue the journey to constantly improve on the quality of all aspects of operations across the EMEA region. The current Quality Manager will move to a new role within Lallemand EMEA Baking in the Autumn of 2024.
With 9 plants in Europe and 1 in South Africa, Lallemand EMEA Baking services the baking industry with baker’s yeast and other yeast derivatives. Furthermore, the sites supply other Lallemand BU’s with yeast for Oenology, Brewing, Animal Nutrition, Biofuel and Distilled Spirits, Savory Ingredients as well as Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients.
The position offers the chance to significantly influence the direction of the Business Unit as the business continue to evolve and specialize in the field of fermentation.
The Quality Manager will report directly to the President and General Manager of the EMEA Business Unit with a strong dotted line to the EMEA Operations Director
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage a small Quality team for the business unit.
- Support QA and QC managers in different Business requests (including product information) and Customers quality assurance questionnaires)
- Ensure compliance of all entities with regulatory, standard, corporate and customer requirements
- Co-ordinate and harmonize the HACCP plans of the different facilities as well as the associated pre-requisite programs.
- Oversee QC programs in the different entities
- Ensure that all employees are properly trained in quality related procedures by developing and/or presenting training materials
- Participate in the establishment of quality specifications and standards for raw materials and for in-process and finished products
- Work with sales, commercial and technical colleagues to respond to customer complaints and inquiries in a proactive manner
- Understand and communicate relevant regulatory and market requirements to the different entities and business units of Lallemand
- Perform or lead investigations on quality deviations or other concerns.
- Responsible for the ongoing development, implementation and improvement of the Quality Management Systems in the different facilities
- Implement plant policies and procedures and be a driver for continuous improvement in the different facilities
- Encourage project/process designs that simplify compliance with quality requirements
- Support the local quality teams on supplier and internal food safety/GMP and other audits, and handle third party customer and regulatory food safety/GMP audits
- Help the different facilities to develop and maintain documentation to comply with record- keeping requirements
- Assess product quality risk as needed in determination of final product disposition
Job Requirements:
- A relevant degree in microbiology, food technology or biotechnology
- Knowledge of the food processing industry. Experience with bioprocesses would be an asset.
- Understanding Quality Management Systems
- Significant experience in Quality Assurance incl. solid understanding of QA methodology and processes
- Knowledge of Food Safety Standards / FAMI QS / QS / GMP / HACCP / Kosher / Halal needed (can be trained on the job).
- Technical competence in microbiology required. Analytical chemistry knowledge an advantage
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail with respect to reporting accuracy
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) to all levels and functions of employees and customers
- Ability to travel in the regions for up to 50% of workdays
Location
The position is flexible in terms of location. It can be based from a home office or from one of the Lallemand sites or offices in Europe.
Language skills:
The ideal candidate will be fluent in English. Proficiency in German would be an advantage.
