The Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP) is establishing a talented and diverse international team to create a cutting-edge quantum programme in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. At the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, where the formulation of Quantum Mechanics was born 100 years ago, we aim to establish an international quantum computing programme, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, that will drive research and innovations at multiple levels - from developing scalable quantum processor technologies to solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications. The long-term mission of the programme is to develop fault-tolerant quantum computing hardware and quantum algorithms that solve life-science-relevant chemical and biological problems.

Quantum Training Lab

At the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, we are building up an internationally leading quantum training laboratory. The quantum training laboratory will offer hands on quantum training for university students, high school students and continued education. The ambition of the quantum training laboratory is to give the Danish quantum ecosystem an educational quantum advantage.

Role description

We are looking for a quantum technology expert, having experimental experience with dilution refrigerators, an appreciation of technical details, and a passion for quantum education.

You will be the laboratory lead responsible for managing the cryostat part of the Quantum Training Lab (QTL). This lab will have up to 5 milli Kelvin cryostats running simultaneously and the ambition is to support educational activities ranging from university level quantum courses and student driven projects to outreach activities for high school and industry training. We are currently establishing the physical lab and the first two cryostats (Kiutra ADR fridge and Qinu dilution fridge) will arrive this fall and winter. As the QTL cryostat lab lead, your initial tasks will center around the physical establishment of the laboratory and equipment as well the integration with courses and projects. Once the QTL cryostat lab is fully established your tasks will include the daily management of the equipment and activities in the lab. In short help to realise the full potential of the Quantum Training Lab. You will be part of and work in close coordination with the members of the Quantum Training Lab Executive Committee.

The succesfull candidate will be a member of the NQCP Education and Outreach team focusing on quantum education and workforce development and interact closely with quantum researchers across the Niels Bohr Institute. As the other members in the NQCP Education and Outreach team you will in addition have the possibility to engage in forefront quantum research

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have some of the following qualifications:

Master or PhD in physics, engineering, or related.

Experience (industrial and/or academic) with quantum technology experiments in dilution refrigerators.

Experience with quantum computing hardware for qubit experiments.

Familiarity with fabrication techniques of quantum devices.

Experience with and passion for quantum training at the university level.

Familiarity with and ideas for hands on quantum educational training.

Good communication and collaborative skills as well as a drive to make things work.

Experience with project management.

Why Us?

Joining NQCP now, you will be involved from the very beginning and contribute to the fulfilment of the mission of NQCP. We want to make Denmark a world leader in quantum research, and we hope to attract people from all over the world.
