About the Department

The core of our technical innovation lies within the LAB, which functions as a semi-autonomous unit aiming for full independence. The LAB houses the primary server room utilized by developers for various tasks. Alongside local servers, there are servers in different parts of the world supporting our global operations. Comprehensive testing of Napatech’s products, including network acceleration and security solutions, is conducted within the LAB. This environment is essential for ensuring the performance and reliability of Napatech’s offerings, maintaining high standards for our products.

Our goal is for the LAB to evolve into a completely independent running unit, enhancing its capacity to support innovative testing and development processes. The LAB works closely with R&D and developers, fostering an innovative culture that permeates throughout Napatech. The department is led by Nikolaj (Team Lead), with Patrick (Lab Technician) as your closest colleague.

About the Position

As an R&D Specialist, Server LAB, you will play a central role in Napatech’s technical department. You will work with 100-150 Linux servers, where you will configure VLANs, set up DHCP servers, and manage switches. A crucial aspect of your role will be to grow the LAB area into an independent unit. This involves focusing on the rapid expansion of VLANs and significantly improving the internal network structure. You will spearhead initiatives to enhance the LAB’s capabilities, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the company and supports innovative development projects.

Your daily tasks will include managing network infrastructure, including PDUs, routers, switches, and security components, as well as adapting the servers to meet the product requirements for the products that developers want to test. You will also be responsible for the automation and management of network infrastructure and the operation of server rooms. An important part of the job is to expand and improve technical guides and documentation. You will work with hardware components such as racks, NICs, and NIMs, and it is important to have experience with network protocols and network automation tools.

Collaboration with R&D to facilitate internal development and reduce the need for external consultants is also part of your responsibilities. Your technical skills and ability to understand and manage complex systems will be crucial for ensuring efficient operations and development within Napatech. Your efforts and interest will create opportunities for personal and professional growth within the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Installing and purchasing inventory for the LAB as well as organizing it.
• Facilitating the operation of R&D development in the LAB.
• Handling a workday with a mixture of time-critical ad hoc R&D project tasks and LAB assignments.
• Being a key person in R&D, supporting your peers both in Copenhagen and worldwide.
• Driving continuous improvements in the tools, methodologies, and processes used in the LAB.
• Enabling your peers to keep the LAB efficient and well-organized.
