The Position
We are seeking a visionary and business-oriented Director to join our team and keep evolving the way we deliver high-quality services to our Lines of Business (LoB). As a key player in our organisation, you will be instrumental in conceptualising and implementing effective solutions to enhance critical deliverables and establish new structured ways of working. With a team of highly skilled subject matter experts in the field of safety, one of the key roles is to ensure strategic impact and scalable concepts with a keen eye for making complex matters simple to follow. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring cross-functional alignment across health and safety disciplines, across the health and safety organisation in the business areas, and in a way that connects a safe working environment to other key business priorities and processes.
You will have 13 direct reports – experienced subject matter experts with various backgrounds and expertise covering safety aspects in relation to fire, machine, chemical, biological, process and other risk areas. You will be a member of the H&S Management team and be based in Denmark.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and nurture the professional growth of team members to ensure sustained high team performance, and effectively manage and allocate team resources.
• Actively engage with key stakeholders across the value chain and organisation, contributing to shaping Novo Nordisk's health and safety strategy.
• Drive the development and execution of pioneering safety initiatives and strategic concepts to foster continuous enhancement and adoption of best practices, enabling benchmarking performance against peer companies.
• Offer subject matter expertise support to Line of Business (LoB), investment projects, and strategic health and safety initiatives across various safety domains including fire safety/emergency, process safety, machine safety, chemical and biological safety, construction safety, indoor climate, and road safety.
• Assume responsibility for liaising with Danish Authorities concerning workplace inspections, RUT inspections, and injunctions in the event of accidents/non-compliance, while staying abreast of new legislation to advise LoB on pertinent changes.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree or higher within Engineering or another relevant health and safety related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience within the field of H&S, or 5 years from a highly relevant consultancy.
• 5 years of experience as a proven leader that can motivate others, working towards a common goal.
• Ample experience working in a large-scale global production/manufacturing envi-ronment, ideally similar regulated environments such as food & beverage, aviation, offshore wind/energy, or similar.
• Excellent Project Management and execution skills.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English.
As a person, you will exhibit exceptional stakeholder management skills, excelling at setting direction through an inclusive approach, and demonstrating proficiency in managing experienced employees. Additionally, you possess excellent communication abilities and the capacity to handle complex decisions that require balancing economic and health & safety considerations with a data-based approach.
About the department
The department is anchored within Novo Nordisk Health & Safety, reporting to the VP and Head of Health and Safety, an area with approximately 60 central based employees working on health and safety.
