About the position We are recruiting a Science Partnership Advisor to support the effective management of stakeholder relations for ICARS. Under the supervision of the Director of Operations and as part of our Partnerships and Communications Team, you will be responsible for ensuring a framework for optimizing the way ICARS engages with its partners and builds strong collaboration and collaborative agreements based on complimentary agendas.
Additionally, together with your colleagues in the Partnerships and Communications Team you will collaborate with our Science Team in the initiation and delivery of activities at regional and global levels, to support our advocacy and policy efforts, including convening workshops and events, setting agendas and drafting concept notes, reports, and policy papers. This will be combined with proposal writing and fundraising activities as well as administrative and logistical tasks to help deliver on the different activities outlined in the overall action plan for the organisation and specific grant deliverables, including activities related to ICARS’ partnership with Wellcome (
Read more here) and ICARS’ participation in the European Commission’s One Health AMR Platform.
In this role you will participate in a range of partnerships activities, including:
- Leading on the establishment of a framework and a strategy to engage with a range of partners. This includes shaping up strong, effective, and positive communication lines with both potential and existing partners,
- Staying abreast of all relevant activity in the AMR field to grow and maintain ICARS partnership efforts and its reputation as a credible partner.
- Ensuring that external funders are acknowledged through ICARS communication mechanisms (website, newsletters, and social media – in collaboration with your communications colleagues)
- Conducting round tables and events with LMIC partners engagement and drafting policy briefs
- Supporting the science team in organising sessions on uptake of solutions at academic conferences and online
- Engaging in fundraising efforts with new donors and partners, including identifying new funding opportunities, proposal writing and development of novel partnerships.
- Producing reports and minutes from high-level meetings as required
- Administering and archiving all email communications and relevant documents according to Danish law.
- Assisting with any other tasks requested
Occasional international travel may be required in this position.
Your background, professional and personal qualifications We are looking for someone with:
- An advanced-level university degree (Master’s degree) in a scientific discipline.
- Five or more years of experience in public health within a non-profit or donor organisation
- Grant management, donor relationship management or fundraising experience.
- Previous experience in global health and/or antimicrobial resistance mitigation would be an asset.
Professional skills:
- Experience with mapping and scoping activities with partners and stakeholders to forge collaborations and joint activities.
- Ability to translate complex data and results into key messages for diverse target audiences and decisionmakers.
- Project management experience including planning, resource allocation, budgeting, monitoring, communication/dissemination, and reporting.
- Grant management experience, including ability to review and monitor small/medium-sized budgets. Previous experience working with European donors and the European Commission would be an asset.
- Demonstrated experience using project management tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to synthesise information conveying key points clearly and concisely.
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Personal qualifications:
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills with demonstrated ability to successfully structure and manage competing priorities
- Strong interpersonal skills with evidence of having developed and maintained effective stakeholder relationships
- Strong ability to multi-task and manage a fluctuating and at times heavy workload, including the flexibility to work in a matrix structure
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with global teams
- Ability to handle complex scenarios, externally and internally, with diplomacy, professionalism and integrity, ensuring delivery of ICARS’ mission through a strong partnership portfolio
- Proactive, creative, and enthusiastic with a pioneer spirit and solution-focused approach
- Interest in working with AMR mitigation in low- and middle-income countries
- Fluency in English (English is our working language). Proficiency in other languages i.e. French, Spanish and/or Arabic is desirable
Terms of employment Salary and appointment terms will be based on the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC) (overenskomst for akademikere i staten). Depending on your academic qualifications and experience we expect the candidate to classified “Special Consultant”.
This is a full-time, 4-year position based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The position is available as soon as possible.
