The Senior Adviser will play a driving role in ensuring the effective implementation of activities to reach projects objectives, providing high level expertise and training on the nexus between migration and human rights, fostering knowledge-based and learning collaboration with key stakeholders, and advancing knowledge sharing.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree) in law, political science or similar field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of proven professional experience working in the field of human rights and migration.
  • Proven experience working with migrants’ social and economic rights
  • Proven experience working with migration governance actors or similar state actors in the field of migration and human rights.
  • Proven experience in developing and facilitating training on nexus between human rights and migration.
  • Proven experience on the political dimension of migration and human rights.
  • Experience providing capacity building on human rights and migration.
  • Experience working in politically sensitive contexts.
  • Previous experience in an International Organization and/or INGO working on migration is an asset.
  • Experience working in the MENA region, Türkiye and the Western Balkan and other Neighboring EU countries is an asset.
  • Knowledge of applying human rights-based approaches to migration is required.
  • Knowledge of women’s and children’s rights in relation to migration is required.
  • Knowledge of human rights and gender-based data collection and analysis is an asset
  • Fluency in English is mandatory. Working knowledge in French or Arabic or Turkish is required. Knowledge Danish is an asset.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Under the supervision of the project Team Leads and Project Managers in Copenhagen, the Senior Adviser on migration and human rights will undertake the following key tasks:
  • Contribute to the implementation of the Migration and Human Rights related projects under the Regional Migration Governance Programme (RMGP) with a focus on migration on the MENA region, Türkiye, and the Western Balkan.
  • Collaborate closely and support to the Institute’s project team in Copenhagen, Tunisia and Egypt and with the projected team in Türkiye and Western Balkans to implement agreed-upon project targets, which include mainstreaming a human right and gender-based approach in migration management, both in relation to civil and political rights and economic and social rights.
  • Act as a technical resource for the Institute and its partners, delivering advisory support and capacity building to state and migration governance actors on integrating human rights and gender-based approaches in migration management.
  • Together with migration colleagues in Tunisia, Egypt, Türkiye, Western Balkans, and Copenhagen, lead the design and facilitation of workshops, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing events aimed at enhancing understanding of human rights issues and practices related to migration.
  • Develop relevant training modules and maintain high-level, strategic relationships RMGP implementing partners, including ICMPD, UNHCR, IOM and EUAA.
  • Promote the sharing of best practices and lessons learned among partners to strengthen collective efforts in migration governance, including on human rights and gender data collection and analysis, and knowledge sharing on the establishment of internal oversight mechanisms and prevention of human trafficking and smuggling.
  • Provide support to the Senior Analyst, Learning specialist and Monitoring & Evaluation adviser on migration and human rights.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT The Senior Adviser position is full-time and will be based in Copenhagen, Denmark with regular travels to MENA countries and other EU Neighboring countries as required by projects’ needs. Amount of travel days is approx. 50 days per year.

The salary and other conditions will be determined in accordance with the Danish Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations with the possibility to negotiate individual supplements.
