The position
To effectively accommodate our expanding and diverse portfolio, we are increasingly leveraging the services of Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) and other suppliers, resulting in a growing network of external partners and CMOs including interaction across categories, area, commercial, and development phase, creating a need for enhanced management and strategic direction of the collaboration.
As Senior Alliance Partner, you play a pivotal role in ensuring Novo Nordisk’s long-term success by overseeing these relationships and securing a strong alliance, ultimately maximizing the value derived from our strategic partners and optimizing the strategic partnerships.
Some of your key responsibilities include:
Managing alliance relationships, defining alliance roadmaps, overseeing communication, decision-making, and monitoring traction and deliverables
Partnering closely with key leaders and decision-makers as well as internal stakeholders in manufacturing, sourcing, supply chain, business development, and R&D to leverage opportunities from external alliances
Taking a hands-on approach to support alliance activities, leading deliverables to enhance collaboration, and facilitating decision-making while mitigating risks related to goals, performance, and financials
Driving governance of partnerships, including fora and communication channels, and leading change management efforts within alliances, developing Relationship Strategy
Identifying potential areas of resistance, developing strategies to address change-related challenges, and promoting a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement
Communicating financial and change control deviations, ensuring consistent management and transparency through standardized tools
You will be working in a global organization; hence you should expect up to 20 days of travel activities per year. This position holds ample opportunities for personal and professional development and will establish you as the go-to person within your area about a certain partner/CMO.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, we imagine you:
Possess an MBA or Master’s degree or equivalent in fields such as Supply Chain, International Business, Engineering, Change Management, etc.
Bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in a comparable role within the pharmaceutical, life science, or other GMP-regulated industries
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the CMO market and the importance of effectively managing external supply chains, in a previous category manager role or a CMO negotiator
Showcase strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead, engage with diverse cultures and organizations, negotiate, and adeptly resolve conflicts
Display proficiency in both spoken and written English
It would be considered an advantage if you hold a professional certification in project/process management or similar.

About the department
GSOD & SSIMS is the central sourcing unit in Novo Nordisk’s Product Supply division, responsible for medium- and long-term strategic sourcing activities, which involves global identification and strategic management of suppliers for Novo Nordisk’s worldwide pharmaceutical production sites.
GSOD & SSIMS ensures necessary external capacity through contracting with specialized CMOs in the Drug Product, Drug Substance and Devices space. Examples of this could be filling and packaging, APIs, or custom-made components for our NN devices. We work closely with the internal manufacturing units and the CMOs to ensure high quality standards, compliance, and timely delivery of the products. We also manage the end-to-end performance and relationship with the CMOs, from sourcing and contracting to governance and risk management.
