SENIOR ANALYST ON THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF MIGRANTS, BASED IN COPENHAGEN

The project aims to enhance human rights protections and promote gender-sensitive approaches in migration management. DIHR collaborates with state actors, civil society, and international partners to advance human rights and gender-sensitive approaches in migration management, with a focus on economic and social rights for migrants and anti-trafficking. 

As an Analyst on the Human Rights of Migrants in the MENA Region, Türkiye, and other EU neighbouring countries, you will be responsible for conducting large-scale studies on the rights of migrants and anti-trafficking. You will contribute to DIHR’s work by providing analytical support to the MENA team, Türkiye and Western Balkan team and the Research department undertaking thematic studies, baseline studies, stakeholder analyses, and other related research efforts that inform and strengthen DIHR’s engagement with state and migration governance actors.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Advanced university degree PhD or master’s in law, political science, social sciences, or a related field.
• 10 years’ experience in conducting research and analysis in the field of migration and human rights and anti-trafficking.
• Published work in English, including peer reviewed, academic articles, reports, or other studies, that demonstrates expertise in human rights and migration knowledge in, with emphasis on the intersection between human rights and migration and the gender dimensions affecting migrants.
• Comprehensive understanding of the current debates on migration, including in the EU and neighbouring countries, with a focus on human rights.
• Strong ability to conduct and manage large scale, structured, context-specific research and write concisely and eloquently in English, presenting findings that are accessible and relevant for diverse audiences.
• Publications on human rights and migration are requested.
• Excellent knowledge of English is required.
• Working knowledge of Danish and Arabic or French is an advantage.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and lead detailed, large-scale studies on migration and human rights in the MENA Region, Türkiye, and other EU neighbouring countries. These studies will analyze the conditions, challenges, and policy frameworks that affect migrants’ access to rights and services, especially concerning economic opportunities, social inclusion, and gender-sensitive protections.
• Contribute to DIHR’s broader work in the regions by providing analytical support to projects. This includes conducting baseline studies, context analyses, stakeholder mapping, gender justice analyses, and thematic studies that support DIHR’s strategic objectives in migration and human rights.
• Produce high-quality, concise reports that synthesize findings, trends, and recommendations, facilitating evidence-based dialogue and decision-making.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing within DIHR and among partners through the presentation of study findings and participation in discussions, workshops, and trainings.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 

The Senior Analyst position is full-time and will be based in Copenhagen, Denmark with regular travels to the MENA Region, Türkiye, and Western Balkan. Amount of travel days is approx. 50 days per year. 

The salary and other conditions will be determined in accordance with the Danish Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations with the possibility to negotiate individual supplements.
