As a Senior Backend Engineer at Monta, you will design and maintain backend systems for financial transactions, ensure data accuracy, optimize performance, implement security measures, ensure compliance with regulations, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide ongoing support and innovation for financial services.

Tools and technologies you’ll use

You’ll be working with a fairly modern stack, and while we don't expect you to know everything about it, you should be comfortable learning new tech. Our tools include Kotlin (Java 17 and closely following updates), Micronaut (microservice framework), Dart and Flutter, Typescript and ReactJS, AWS Cloud, Docker, GitOps, Kubernetes, MySQL/Redis (database), Prometheus (monitoring), Grafana (dashboard/metrics), Loki (logging), and more!

Here are some things you’ll be working on:

• Develop and Maintain Systems: Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems for financial transactions, invoicing, and accounting processes.
• Ensure Data Accuracy: Implement measures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, including transactions and VAT calculations.
• Compliance and Security: Ensure systems comply with financial regulations and implement security measures to protect sensitive financial information.
• Monitor and Troubleshoot: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to maintain system reliability.

• Demonstrated experience in integrating complex financial systems
• Achievements in implementing robust security measures and ensuring compliance with financial regulations (such as PSD2). This could include developing secure authentication systems, data encryption, and audit trails to protect sensitive financial data.
• Taking ownership of complex financial domains.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will:

Design and maintain backend systems for financial transactions, ensure
data accuracy, optimize performance, implement security measures, ensure
compliance with regulations, collaborate with cross-functional teams,
and provide ongoing support and innovation for financial services.

To do this, we imagine you to have the following experience:

1. Experience with Financial Systems: Proven experience in developing and maintaining financial services software, ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient transaction processing.
2. Technical Excellence: Demonstrated technical proficiency in backend development, with expertise in languages like Kotlin being a strong advantage.
3. Responsibility: A track record of taking ownership of projects, ensuring data integrity, security, and seamless integration with other systems.
