We are looking for an expert preferably with experience in R&D, who has the skill and motivation to drive the development of on-engine power hydraulics components and systems for exhaust valve actuation and fuel injection within our large portfolio of MAN B&W two-stroke engines. Together with a multi-disciplinary team of experts within development and engineering, you will make sure that new technology is transformed into solid and verified design concepts, that are well documented so our engineering departments can apply the technology on our engines.

You will play an important role in:

• Performing structural and fatigue analysis of hydraulic and fuel components
• Optimizing concepts and design
• Performing root cause analysis and troubleshooting of existing applications
• Validating your models against data from tests either at our test rigs in Copenhagen or at our licensees in Asia, with testing procedures specified by you.
• Cooperating with a wide range of departments within and outside R&D collaborating on a variety of tasks and projects
• Sharing knowledge and experience and hereby contributing significantly to the success of the development of new components and systems.

We imagine that you:

• Have 5 – 10 years of experience in a similar job.
• Are curious to learn new things and open to new ideas
• Are excellent in determining which details are crucial to a problem and know how to balance which details of a given problem are important and which are not
• Are a team player
• Have a good understanding of the problem definitions for your colleagues.
• Are good at explaining the relevance of your work.
• Are proactive and drive your work self-employed
• Have an expert background in one or several of the fields: Mechanics of materials, FEA simulations, fracture mechanics, material science, vibration analysis.
• Experience with simulation-supported technology development, maybe combined with test of engines or other relevant machines or systems.
• Have good scripting skills - often we would use Python for scripting.
• Have a M.Sc. degree in engineering, physics or applied mathematics.

Welcome to Injection & Combustion Simulation
You will join the Injection & Combustion Simulation Department within the functional area of Hydraulics and Injection Development of two-stroke R&D which is responsible for developing fuel injection concepts and designing prototypes for fuel equipment, hydraulic components and systems. Together with our colleagues within the functional area, we analyze structural and thermal loads on our components, run simulations of both injection and combustion and conduct tests on both test rigs and real engines to validate new concepts and designs. Furthermore, we support the rest of R&D and Engineering with simulation work when possible.
