Role: Mechanical Quantity Surveyor

Job Overview: As a Senior QS, you will play a critical role in overseeing the entire contract lifecycle, from project award to post-contract completion. You will ensure all contracts, procurement, costs, and variations are managed efficiently, ensuring compliance and maintaining clear communication across departments and with subcontractors. The successful candidate will also focus on continuous improvement, helping MSL maintain its reputation for delivering projects on time, within scope, and budget.
Requirements
- Contract Review & Summary: Review contracts, purchase orders, and clarifications post-award, summarizing them into the QMS contract management system.
- Contract Register Management: Maintain the Contract Review Register throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring it is up to date and reflective of any changes.
- Contract Negotiations & Addendums: Lead contract negotiations and manage the issuance of necessary addendums while updating internal systems to reflect changes.
- Cost Management: Monitor and control costs in relation to IFC (Issued for Construction) budgets and updates, ensuring adherence to project financial goals.
- Scope & Variation Management: Oversee design and development scope changes, manage variation registers, and update project budgets accordingly.
- Procurement Coordination: Monitor the procurement plan and process, focusing on vendor selection, tendering, bid analysis, and contract award negotiations.
- Subcontractor Management: Chair pre-award subcontractor meetings, issue contracts, and ensure compliance with terms, including insurance, bonds, and legal obligations.
- Monthly Reporting: Ensure Client and Subcontractor payment applications are submitted on time, assess them, and issue payment certificates promptly. Maintain Cashflow.
- Compliance & Approvals: Ensure all contracts and payments meet compliance requirements, with Commercial Manager approval required for significant contracts.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in lessons learned sessions, root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvements through Lean practices.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of Contract Law, Procurement processes, and cost control.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with QMS systems and contract management software.
- Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement certification (preferred but not essential).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Profile
- Relevant Degree
- 5 years’+ experience working as a Mechanical QS on Pharma projects
- Previous relevant experience working in Ireland or the UK an advantage
- Semi-Conductor Experience a distinct advantage
- Good communication skills and proven record in taking Tenders from Pricing through to final client award
