Y factor is on a mission to turn private sperm donation into a safe, easy, and enabling experience. We aim to remove the barriers—costs, time, and impersonal experiences—of traditional third party services with a streamlined, secure platform. We’re a young startup, fresh from completing our business plan, defining key markets, and mapping our product journey. With our UX/UI design in progress, we’re diving into development and need you to bring our platform to life.

About the Role

We’re looking for a talented React Native developer to help us build an app that feels as intuitive as it is secure. This is your chance to play a key role in creating a mobile app from scratch, where users can connect, communicate, and collaborate on the family-building path. From user profiles to secure messaging, you'll be hands-on creating meaningful experiences.

As our React Native developer you will have high autonomy and work independently, but also in close collaboration and report to our Tech Lead Deyan, who works as a hands-on PM developing the backend and building the architecture. What you will do:

• Code & Create: Develop a high-performance React Native app, building everything from user registration to matching algorithms, while ensuring robustness and scalability.

• Collaborate: Work closely with our team to brainstorm, define, develop, and implement innovative solutions for user experience and app functionality. Work with our Tech Lead to ensure APIs are implemented seamlessly.

• Optimise & Secure: Ensure the app is secure and fast with high code quality, performance, and security standards.

• Deploy with Ease: Set up CI/CD pipelines, conduct code reviews and participate in agile development processes.

• Stay Ahead: Stay updated with the latest trends in mobile development and bring your own ideas for features and improvements to our tech stack to keep the app on the cutting edge of mobile UX.

What success in this role looks like after 6 months:

1. Development of Key Features: You have built and deployed a functional app that meets key specifications, and the app is stable, with minimal bugs, and smoothly handles user flows.

2. User-centric Design Implementation: You have excelled in translating design assets from our UX/UI designer into an intuitive and engaging mobile experience, and applied user feedback to make iterative improvements.

3. Smooth Integrations: You have integrated the mobile front end with backend APIs, creating a seamless data flow between the app’s interface and server, and seamlessly incorporated tools from relevant third-parties.

4. Security & Privacy: You have established security measures, ensuring compliance with privacy standards.

5. Optimisation and scalability: You've applied clean, efficient code for high performance. Automated tests and CI/CD pipelines are in place to allow for rapid iteration and deployment of updates with minimal downtime, as we scale.

6. Team and Process Collaboration: You have collaborated effectively with the rest of the team, sharing insights and proactively suggested improvements, contributing positively to Y Factor’s culture and technical standards.

About You

We are looking for a senior mobile developer, who thrives working in startups, and has an interest in our mission. We are a small team, and spend a lot of time together, so we also value personal chemistry very high. We don't care much about whether you have a degree, but we are very interested in seeing you previous work and skills in action!

What you must bring:

• 5+ years of development experience, 3+ in React Native

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript

• Experience with REST APIs and third-party integrations, agile development methodologies, Git and app security

• Familiarity with state management solutions (e.g. Redux or MobX) and mobile UI/UX best practices

• Based in the Copenhagen Denmark area

Nice to have:

• Experience with security implementation and app submission processes (App Store & Google Play)

• Familiarity implementing chat/messaging features, geolocation services and map integrations

• Understanding of data privacy compliance (GDPR/HIPAA)

• Previous work on social, matchmaking, or marketplace platforms

• Passion for projects with social impact
