The position
As a Lab-Based Senior Scientist, you will:

• Collaborate with the CHF research project team, demonstrating flexibility and agility to complement different subteams and activities based on evolving project priorities and needs.
• Participate in the characterization of cardiomyocytes at various levels, encompassing transcriptomic and protein-related techniques, as well as in vitro functional assessments.
• Provide support to different subteams (transcriptomic, flow cytometry, histology, imaging) as per the constantly evolving project requirements.
• Oversee the daily work of students and interns.
• Engage in relevant cross-functional meetings and forums to exchange knowledge and ensure close alignment across different areas.

Qualifications
To be our ideal candidate, you should have:

• A Ph.D. in stem cell biology, developmental biology, or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in mammalian cell culture complemented with knowledge in developmental biology and pluripotent stem cells within academia, biotech, or the pharmaceutical industry.
• Profound understanding of cardiomyocyte differentiation from pluripotent stem cells and developmental biology of the heart.
• Practical experience in mammalian cell culture, particularly pluripotent stem cell cultivation and differentiation into cardiomyocytes.
• Practical experience in imaging readers (e.g., Cytation 10), confocal and widefield microscopy.
• Practical experience in transcriptomic techniques such as single-cell RNA sequencing and data analyses.
• Practical experience in flow cytometry and histology methods.
• Practical experience in electrophysiology and microelectrode arrays.
• Knowledge about in vitro cardiomyocyte maturation and monitoring methods (advantageous but not mandatory).
• Experience in supervising technicians and/or students.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.

About the department
The Department of Cardiomyocyte Biology & Biomarkers is a dynamic team with a primary focus on developing cell therapies for the treatment of chronic heart failure, situated within the Research area as part of Cell Therapy R&D at Novo Nordisk. Our Cell Therapy R&D covers the entire R&D value chain, operating as an integrated unit, spanning from early research to GMP manufacturing and clinical development within the same organization. Based in Måløv, Denmark, our team comprises 4 scientists, 2 technicians, interns and master students. Joining us means becoming part of a dedicated and supportive project team with extensive expertise in stem cell biology and cardiomyocyte cell differentiation, working closely with other areas of the organization to drive our projects forward.
