Senior Sustainability Advisor

Your position

At Semco Maritime, we are committed to ensuring a greener future while making a positive difference for people and planet. In your new position as our Senior Sustainability Advisor, you will be leading our dedicated sustainability team whose mission is to steer the company through the complex ESG landscape and to challenge business as usual. Working closely with our senior management team, you will have the chance to further develop and integrate our sustainability strategy, taking the next steps on this important journey. You will co-drive activities together with our 4 divisions, ensuring collaboration across the value chain and that we meet the future sustainability requirements within the industry and legislative frameworks. 

Semco Maritime has set ambitious targets for decarbonizing our activities and is climate partner with Esbjerg Municipality, supporting the local decarbonisation targets as well. This means that you, as responsible for sustainability in one of Esbjerg’s bigger companies, have a local voice when sustainability is on the agenda, no matter if it is at network meetings with colleagues from other companies or at conferences. 

Your place of work will be at our Global HQ located in Esbjerg, the hub of the Danish energy industry, right on the waterfront – views do not get any better than this. The position is full-time, and you can expect to travel a few days per year. 

Your tasks & responsibilities 

As a Senior Sustainability Advisor, you will be the person in front of our sustainability efforts, setting the direction to ensure that we live up to our key stakeholders’ expectations. 

Your tasks will include but are not limited to:

• Monitoring and reporting on sustainability KPIs and ensuring compliance with CSRD, EU Taxonomy etc.
• Leading the sustainability agenda within our 4 divisions working across the energy industry – such as offshore wind and carbon capture and storage.
• Empowering decarbonization activities across the value chain through dialogues and strong partnerships with customers and suppliers. 
• Analysing and driving internal improvement activities to enhance our sustainability efforts across ESG.
• Representing Semco Maritime at events and in networks.  

Your profile & qualifications 

We are looking for you who is an energic and outgoing person, passionate about driving the sustainability agenda and wants to leave your personal mark on decarbonising the energy industry. You have a structured and detail-oriented approach to your work without fearing to get into deep waters. You are excited about keeping yourself up to date within a various and broad list of ESG topics and can communicate complex themes in an easily understandable way.

To succeed in this position, we imagine that you have minimum 3 years of experience within strategy execution, business development and stakeholder management. Besides this, you also have:

• The ambition and willingness to stand in front of the agenda as it will be your area of responsibility. 
• General knowledge about sustainability and are familiar with shortenings as CSRD, ESRS, GHGP and LCA – and are curious to further enhance your knowledge. 
• An educational background within business administration and economics, business development, communication or similar. 
• A good understanding of combining sustainability with commercial offerings.
• Strong collaboration skills across different educational backgrounds, cultures, and work experiences.
• Fluency in English is a requirement as it is our corporate language.
