Software Development Team Lead / Product Owner

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Software Development Team Lead / Product Owner who is responsible for overseeing the development team, and guiding the team through the software development lifecycle while ensuring the product vision aligns with business goals. This role involves technical leadership, sprint planning, backlog management, stakeholder communication, and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

• Product team development oversight - lead, mentor, and support the development team, ensuring timely and high-quality software delivery.

• Product ownership - define and prioritize product features, manage the backlog, and align development with business goals. 

• Agile execution - plan and manage sprints, facilitate standups and ensure agile best practices are followed. 

• Hands-on coding & technical strategy - write and review code, and ensure best practices in development, security, and scalability. 

• Quality assurance & development - oversee testing, and deployments and gather user feedback for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of software development (backend, frontend or full-stack) 

• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python.

• Experience with frameworks like React, Next.js, Three.js, and D3.

• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD and cloud platforms.

• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)

• Knowledge of API development and system architecture. 

Leadership Skills:

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities. 

• Ability to balance technical constraints with business needs.

• Experience with backlog management tools (Jira, Notion)

• Background in materials science or simulation software development is a plus. 

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 

• 5+ years of experience in software development

• 2+ years in a leadership role

• Experience as a Product Owner or working closely with product management is a plus. 

Key Performance Metrics

• Sprint pace and team productivity. 

• Product roadmap execution and feature delivery timelines. 

• Code quality, technical debt management, and system stability. 

• Stakeholder satisfaction and alignment with business goals.
