We are looking for a highly motivated and independent staff scientist to support our efforts in gnotobiology eight hours per week to commence 1 January 2025 or after agreement.
Our research
One of our key research areas in the group ‘Laboratory Animal Science and Welfare’ is to study the role that the gut microbiome has on reproducibility and translatability of animal models for human diseases. For this purpose we use germ-free (i.e. completely sterile) isolators for housing mice without microorganisms and transplanting them with microbes of interest.
Your job
You will join a multi-disciplinary research team working on improving preclinical research using murine models with defined gut microbiota compositions. Your tasks will mainly be related to activities in the isolators in close collaboration with researchers and animal technicians primarily responsible for the daily management of the germ-free facility:
You will be expected to contribute to and support the ongoing research projects in the group on an ad hoc basis when needed; disseminate your expertise to new lab members and support the lab management.

Place of employment
The place of employment is at Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Frederiksberg Campus, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and rodent facilities.
Terms of employment
The average working hours are 8 hours per week and the starting date is 1 January 2025 or after agreement.
Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
