We are looking for a highly motivated and independent staff scientist to support our efforts in cardiac proteomics and cardiac molecular studies to commence 1st of May 2025.

Our research
We pursue research to identify proteins and cells involved in molecular cardiac pathology. Our research projects are multidisciplinary and are as such anchored-on team efforts. We are strongly connected with local and international collaborators, predominantly basic scientists from academia, but also clinicians and scientists from industry. Our group has a diverse composition with regards to internationalization, gender and age.

Your job
You will join a multi-disciplinary research team working on molecular regulation in the heart.

Your tasks will be
- Perform thorough quality control and analysis of proteomics data
- Establish and perform any needed applied statistical analysis of cardiac proteomics, including longitudinal and nonlinear methods
- Be able to verify the quality of newly established statistical methods
- Establish and perform computational biological functional analyses
- Establish and perform ad hoc needed data science methods
- Supervise on statistical questions posed by the group
- Understand how every applied analysis is used to gain insights into heart disease
- Be able to identify the impact of the scientific results and communicate those in writing

You will be expected to contribute to the ongoing research projects in the group on an ad hoc basis when needed; disseminate your expertise to new lab members and support the lab management.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic staff scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills
• You have a PhD in a quantitative science, such as applied mathematics, bioinformatics, data science or physics
• You are fluent in at least R and Python
• You have extended knowledge about applied statistical methods, including longitudinal and nonlinear methods
• You can use statistical results to arrive at biological conclusions
• You can evaluate statistical methods by understanding the underlying mathematics
• You have proven an ability to envision, plan and execute a research project
• Good English skills, written and spoken

Desirable experience and skills
• Collegial, service-minded and helpful
• You have specific experience with analysis of cardiac proteomics samples
• You can communicate aspects of statistical theory to clinicians and experimentalists

Place of employment
The place of employment is at Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment.

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 3 years. The starting date is 1st of May 2025.

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
