Are you passionate about climate change and would you like to contribute to the development international education relevant to managing climate change mitigation and adaptation?

The Department of Environmental Science at Aarhus University is looking for a student assistant from 1 October 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter, expecting to work 1 day per week, around 7 hours or can be agreed with the chair.

This position is open as long as you are studying, or until 31 October 2025 where the position expire.


Job description


Your main tasks are (administrative tasks in connection with):
  • Support the development of education in climate services and climate risk mitigation and adaptation in Circle U
  • Support the collaboration with researchers in Circle U and at AU
  • Support the gap and needs assessment in terms of climate relevant educational development
  • Work directly with the AU Climate Chair to Circle U and with the iClimate Centre at AU



 Your profile


  • Preferably, you have a strong background in climate change studies
  • You have a keen interest in forging international collaboration among staff and students
  • You have a keen interest in developing climate change and educational needs
  • Interest in sustainability integration in climate change research and educational development
  • It is a benefit if you have experience in LCA – but not a requirement
  • You have some ideas about didactics and active learning related to climate studies
  • English is the project language, but knowledge of Danish will be an everyday ease.
  • You are motivated by working in a highly dynamic environment.



Who we are


ENVS: The Department of Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary department under the Faculty of Technical Sciences at Aarhus University. The expertise of the Department ranges from physics, chemistry, microbiology, social science, geography, economics, to policy analysis. Basic as well as applied research are conducted on some of the major challenges facing society, such as pollution and pollution control mechanisms, management of land, soil, water, air and biodiversity, protection of ecosystem services, and climate change. Advisory services within these areas are offered to ministries and other authorities. Currently, about 140 staff, postdocs and PhD students are working at the department. iClimate: The vision of iClimate is to support resilience and an equitable and just transition towards sustainability, taking a systems approach which integrates natural, social, engineering and health sciences and humanities. The mission of iClimate is to facilitate new interdisciplinary ideas and projects that aim to study climate processes and feedbacks, climate change and human-climate interactions; understand impacts and risks; support adaptation decisions and enable transition of society to sustainability in the face of large-scale changes ahead. iClimate will foster education, capacity building and an exchange of knowledge and practices across AU and with the outside world. iClimate aspires to become the preferred provider to the outside for societally relevant translation of the science and to provide services and solutions to the private and public sectors.  Further information can be found at: https://iclimate.au.dk/

Formalities and salary range

Salary and terms as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Union of Commercial and Clerical Employees in Denmark/State (HK/Stat) for clerical staff, laboratory technicians and IT employees and the joint collective agreement concluded between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Organisations of Public Employees - Denmark - Danish State Sector (the OAO-S joint collective agreement).
