At the Danish National Genome Center we are establishing a world-class national High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure for Precision Medicine – and we are looking for a part-time student developer for our interdisciplinary team of ambitious and engaged colleagues.
About the Danish National Genome Center
The Danish National Genome Center’s primary task is to establish the foundation for the development of better diagnostics and more targeted treatments using Whole Genome Sequencing. The Center has a national responsibility to develop state of the art infrastructure to enable analysis on big biomedical heterogenous data.
One of the Danish National Genome Center’s main goals is to be at the forefront of new big data solutions in the healthcare domain. The Danish National Genome Center is working with HPC, cloud provision, network, servers, storage, applications, users and cross-cutting processes in a Linux software environment.
About the position
We are looking for a student who are a year or two into their bachelors, or just beginning their master’s degree in computer science or a closely-related field. You’ll be part of the Section for Health, Research and International Relations. The Section is driving the center’s research services, providing lots of opportunities for ownership and input.
You’ll be supporting the Section, by developing and maintaining new solutions to streamline processes related to management of users and research projects. You’ll be working in close collaboration with our more senior developers, so don’t worry if you are not sure that you can drive a solution all the way from A to Z.
On a day to day basis, you are expected to work collaboratively with the team to streamline and help automate manual processes and recurring tasks. This will include developing features, writing one-off data analyses, and supporting the non-technical staff in various tasks.
As student assistant you will also be expected to be openminded and willing to help with other tasks such as documentation, answering emails, helping out with meetings etc.
Professional qualifications
You have experiences in, and understanding of:
• Development in a few different programming languages
• Running a Linux system, and interacting with a Linux terminal
• Git version control
• Dynamic programming and other optimisation techniques
It would be a plus to have experience with or knowledge of some of the following:
• Interacting with multi-user repositories (merge/pull requests and code review)
• Nix and NixOS or a willingness to learn it
• CI/CD (continuous integration and continuous delivery)
• Strongly typed languages and functional programming

The Danish National Genome Center is an organization under the Danish Ministry of Interior and Health and is located at Ørestads Boulevard 5, 2300 København S, together with Statens Serum Institute and the Danish Health Data Authority. The organization has approx. 40 employees.
Terms of employment
Terms will be based on the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the relevant trade union. Classification will depend your academic qualifications and experience.
This part-time position is available as soon as possible.
You will refer to Lene Cividanes, Head of Health, Research and International Relations and work in close collaboration with a small project team and other relevant colleagues across the agency.
