Student Worker: Global Food Industry Segment at ABENA

ABENA’s Food Industry Segment is a headquartered function connecting market needs across 10+ different markets with product offerings across several different product categories (eg. gloves, packaging materials, protective wear, paper, hygiene, etc.). We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Student Worker to support our Global Food Industry Segment as we expand our presence across multiple European markets.

You will play a key role in analyzing market trends, identifying new business opportunities, interpreting statistics, and mapping out potential customers and competitors, as well as other back-office tasks, including handling practicalities.

Your Responsibilities

• Conduct market research to identify trends, consumer demands, and emerging opportunities within the food industry
• Facilitate our international sales units
• Link sales with product management
• Assist in prospect mapping, identifying, and categorizing potential customers
• Perform competitor analysis to benchmark our position in the industry
• Support the team with back-office tasks, including statistics, reporting, administrative duties, and practicalities
• Share knowledge and success stories
• Provide insights and recommendations that will help shape our business strategy

Your Profile

• Currently enrolled in a commercial education (e.g., Business Administration, Marketing, or similar)
• Strong analytical skills, and a structured, detail-oriented approach
• Service-minded
• Interest in international business, start-ups, and The Food Industry
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Fluent in English (speaking German is a plus but not a requirement)
• A proactive team player with good communication skills and a hands-on mindset
• A driven self-starter who is also capable of working independently and taking ad hoc tasks

Location: Aabenraa, Denmark (car-pooling groups exist from Flensburg, Sønderborg, Kolding). Some hours could be arranged as remote work.  

Your future team and place of work

At the headquarters, we are a small team consisting of just two: a Global Segment Manager and a Business Developer, but with a close integration with other business units and the sales organization of multiple subsidiaries. This allows for a close and strong collaboration based on trust and efficiency. We are always available for each other; all it takes to get a helping hand is to look across your desk. 

We are characterized by being a workplace with a high ceiling and an informal atmosphere, where we work well together and have fun. We go to great lengths to help each other, and despite being a larger company, we value collegiality, with everyone naturally greeting each other in the hallways.

You will be based in Aabenraa, and we envision a weekly working hours limit of a maximum of 15 hours depending on the department's needs and your schedule, emphasizing that you prioritize your studies. We will, of course, during exams, consider your need to study and prepare for such.
