Join our Sustainability team in Ambu’s global R&D department
At our headquarters in Ballerup, you will become part of our sustainability and biosafety function that is anchored in R&D. Our sustainability team have four years of track record to mature sustainability in the R&D organisation and have good results and structures in place for working with sustainability in our early product development. All the way from design strategy to changing things in production – latest when we were the first company in the world to introduce bioplastics in an endoscope.
The sustainability team sets the bar high and has the responsibility to drive actions to reduce environmental impact and increase circularity of our new product and packaging innovations. We are working across our different business areas and together with our innovation teams we actively seek out new technical opportunities to improve our solutions through tech tracks and new product development.
The recent years we have for instance worked with circular sourcing of bioplastics, improving product and packaging for a more recyclable design, and setting up take-back and recycling programs for medical devices.
We are a team that has a data-driven approach to making sustainability related design decisions and to address our biggest challenges head on and with this position we seek to build out our capabilities to use data to also document the benefits of the new solutions we are bringing to the market.
To be successful in our efforts, we are working closely with good colleagues from marketing, R&D and operations.
Scout new materials – and build environmental evidence
In this role, you will complete lifecycle assessments (LCA) on Ambu’s new and existing products, as well as driving sustainability early phase sustainability projects, evidently scouting and reviewing of sustainable new circular materials and greener technologies. Also you will support Ambu’s new innovation projects with your sustainability expertise to ensure that sustainability is considered in product development from idea to patient.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Coordination and collection of data for product-level sustainability
Taking a data-driven approach to driving sustainability for design projects
Completing LCA and circularity-related documentation in enabling be transparent in reporting on sustainability and monitoring performance
Creating impactful presentations
Supporting our innovation projects with sustainability-related activities and deliverables
Drive tech-tracks tasks within sustainability topics such as design for circularity and circular sourcing of e.g. bioplastics
Purpose-driven and analytical
Skills and experiences can be earned in many different ways, and we understand that the best fit for the role cannot be prescribed on paper. You are however likely to succeed in this position if you:
Have an engineering background e.g. B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in Design and Innovation Engineering, Sustainability Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Chemical Engineering or related discipline
Have a strong knowledge of environmental impacts and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) services from a product and corporate perspective and you have interest in developing your related technical skills
Have good knowledge related to product development including materials choice (related to plastics, electronics, metals) and manufacturing processes is a plus
Have affinity for performing technical analysis including modelling and data management
Can collect, process, manage and interpret data in a form that is understandable to audiences with varying levels of knowledge on sustainability
Are able to generate valuable insights from analysis, and the preparation of clear and compelling LCA reports and presentations of results
Have experience with one of the LCA software tools, e.g. SimaPro, GaBi, OpenLCA, etc.
Are familiar with ISO 14040; ISO 14044; ISO 14067; PEF and GHG protocol for products and organizations.
Ideally have 1-3 years of experience – what’s most important to us is your drive, and if you’ve nodded a few times reading the above
