The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, invites applications for a full time 4-year position as teaching assistant professor from 1 May, 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
You will be part of the Clinical nutrition, Oncology and Dentistry group of the Section for Companion Animal Diagnostic Imaging, Surgery and Clinical Specialties.
The position is focused on planning and executing lectures and clinical teaching within companion animal clinical and comparative nutrition. The teaching assistant professor is not expected to drive own original research, but to support and assist in ongoing research at the department.

The Section for Companion Animal Diagnostic Imaging, Surgery and Clinical Specialties holds research, clinical teaching and service obligations within companion animal diagnostic imaging, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, cardiology, neurology, dentistry, clinical nutrition and exotic pets and collaborates across fields nationally and internationally.
Clinical nutrition is responsible for the clinical nutrition specialty service at the University Hospital for Companion Animals receiving and managing both first opinion and referral cases. Furthermore, the group teaches veterinary, animal science and post-graduate master students (www.cacs.ku.dk ) in general, comparative and clinical nutrition in dogs, cats and exotic pets. Teaching includes clinical teaching in the specialty service, as well as lectures and seminars. In addition, the group is responsible for a one-year post-graduate program for Veterinary technicians (FagVSP) in companion animal clinical nutrition. Finally, the group offers European College of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition (ECVCN) approved residency training.
Job description
The teaching assistant professor will be responsible for teaching of veterinary and animal science students in comparative and companion animal clinical nutrition. Teaching will include clinical teaching and primary responsibility in the clinical nutrition specialty service as well as giving lectures or seminars for larger groups. Clinical teaching includes primary patient responsibility within specialised clinical nutrition. Furthermore, the applicant is expected to take primary course responsibility for the post-graduate veterinary technician education, as well as interact with and assist faculty in the continuous development of teaching material and strategies.
In considering applications for the teaching assistant professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant´s ability to document a high level of clinical teaching experience in the field of comparative and clinical nutrition at a specialized companion animal practice level. The teaching assistant professor is required to complete the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen assistant professor pedagogical degree (“Adjunktpædagogikum”).
