The Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Aarhus University, seeks three outstanding candidates for three tenure track assistant professor positions by October 1, 2025, or soon thereafter.

Ruminant Nutrition (RUN)
The positions We seek candidates to further develop our research profile in ruminant nutrition with the aim of obtaining a more sustainable production of dairy and beef in all aspects.
With these positions we wish to strengthen our capabilities in the fields of:
forage production, processing/bio-refining, novel feeds, feed evaluation and the mitigation of methane using bioactive compounds, feed additives and early life interventions.
The major focus is on how various feedstuffs and diets can influence rumen and intestinal digestion, absorption and metabolism, and how this will reduce excretion and emissions at animal level and lead to optimal feed production for dairy and beef production at system level. The research area covers dairy cows and all types of young stock.
The candidatesCandidates must have experience in conducting animal trials spanning from intensive experiments to more production-oriented trials and have experience in conducting research on high-yielding animals fed feedstuffs and diets relevant to a Danish agricultural agenda.
An interest in developing, maintaining and establishing relevant analytical methods to support the research areas is essential. Only candidates with a strong track record within forage production and utilization or feeding strategies and technologies to reduce enteric methane emissions will be considered for the positions.
The candidates are expected to perform interdisciplinary research with national and international researchers and industry partners, and to obtain external funding for research projects to establish a successful research team integrated with the existing scientific areas within the department.
Furthermore, candidates will need to, within their areas of expertise, participate in providing research-based consultancy to authorities and participate in knowledge exchange with society and industry. Candidates will also be responsible for teaching and supervising students at the bachelor’s, master’s and PhD levels as well as young researchers and technical staff.
Qualifications for the tenure track assistant professor level at Aarhus University must include postdoctoral training or similar with a relevant research profile and a strong scientific publication record in at least one of the areas of the position as described above.
Your profile as tenure track assistant professor: You are a skilled researcher with a well-documented background within your specific field of research, and you possess:
- Documented research qualifications at a high international level
- Teaching and supervision experience
- Experience as a WP leader in externally funded research projects

Technical Sciences Tenure TrackAarhus University offers talented scientists from around the world attractive career perspectives via the Technical Sciences Tenure Track Programme. Highly qualified candidates are appointed as Assistant Professors for a period of six years with the prospect of performance- based advancement to a tenured Associate Professorship.
The aim of the Technical Sciences Tenure Track Programme is to:
- attract outstanding talented individuals that are competitive at an international level
- to promote the early development of independent research success early in the career of scientists
- to create transparency in the academic career path
As part of the tenure track position, the candidate is offered:

As part of the Aarhus University Tenure Track Programme, the University carries out a mid-way evaluation to review the progress of the tenure track candidate after three years, according to the same criteria used in the final tenure review. The final tenure review is conducted after five and a half years. If the review is positive, the candidate will be offered a tenured position as Associate Professor at Aarhus University.

This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed
a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
