The Department of Economics at Copenhagen Business School (CBS) invites applicants for one tenure-track Assistant Professorship in the field of Energy Economics.

The Department of Economics at CBS provides research, teaching, and knowledge transfer within the core areas of economics, i.e., microeconomics, macroeconomics, and quantitative methods.

The department contributes to teaching at the undergraduate, graduate and PhD levels in economics at various study programs at CBS, including the graduate program of Applied Economics and Finance and the MSc in Advanced Economics and Finance.

From a research perspective, the department focuses particularly on business-related and socially pertinent economic studies and is home to three research centers: the Pension Research Centre (PeRCent), Centre for Innovation (CFI), and the Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure (CSEI).

CSEI’s research in Energy Economics is policy oriented and aimed at having economic and societal impact. The research at CSEI uses and combines regulatory economics, industrial organization, environmental economics, resource economics, welfare economics, innovation economics and other appropriate research methods and techniques to address energy and related topics such as energy infrastructure development, market design, network regulation, decarbonization, renewable energy integration, energy poverty, digitalization, and public acceptance of energy infrastructure.

The assistant professorship is a tenure track position (up to 6 years) with research and teaching obligations. The assistant professor is anticipated to be significantly engaged in advancing the Department's research initiatives in Energy Economics, as well as in upholding and enhancing the global research reputation of CBS in this field. Relevant publications and experience in securing research funding and managing interdisciplinary and international research projects in Energy Economics is an asset, but applications from less experienced candidates are also welcome.

To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the assistant professor is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the research and teaching activities of the Department. Furthermore, it is required to participate in the assistant professor program at CBS on teaching principles and methods to fulfill the pedagogical requirements at the end of the term of employment as assistant professor.

Responsibilities
  • Conducting individual and collaborative research that meets high international standards
  • Contributing to the advancement of research in Energy Economics at CBS and CSEI
  • Supporting fundraising efforts and coordinating research projects
  • Sharing scientific knowledge and communicating findings to relevant agencies and the public
  • Actively participating in regular research activities, such as seminars, workshops, and conferences
  • Teaching and conducting examinations in existing CBS programs, including Executive Education
  • Contributing to course development and pedagogical initiatives
  • Developing personal teaching competencies
  • Providing support for departmental administrative tasks and participating in responsibilities across the entire CBS organization.

Qualifications

Interested candidates must hold a PhD or the equivalent at the time of the start of the position. Emphasis is placed on research potential and the ability to actively contribute to developing a research centre.

Recruitment procedure

The Recruitment Committee will shortlist a minimum of two applicants; when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline.

The applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and later in the process about the result of the assessment.

Once the recruitment process is completed each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application.

7. Copies of the publications marked with an *. Only publications written in English (or another specified principal language, according to research tradition) or one of the Scandinavian languages will be taken into consideration.
