The position

As VP of CMC Digitalisation, you will report to the Corporate VP of CMC Outsourcing & Business Development, leading an expanding organisation of 35+ employees with 5 direct reports.

You will be responsible for shaping, maintaining, and evolving the CMC Digitalisation and automatization strategy, and spearheading strategic initiatives to drive digital transformation aligned with the CMC strategic vision. You will mature the function, and you will guide and develop a diverse team, spearheading their success.

Your team will create a solid uniform data foundation across CMC and oversee the design, development, and implementation of digitalisation and  technology solutions across CMC, including automatization, IT, OT, data, and AI-driven initiatives in close collaboration with business teams. The opportunities are many, and the key is to prioritise and set the right direction to create impact and support CMC’s strategic direction.

 

As the Head of CMC Digitalisation, you will:

  • Develop and refine the CMC Digitalisation and automatization strategy to support the organisation's objectives.
  • Build, shape, and lead the organization needed to execute the strategy.
  • Be responsible for digitalisation projects across CMC, building the right foundation to obtain funding for digital business opportunities and ensuring the needed alignment with the CMC strategic aspiration.
  • Ensure that all applications, systems, projects, and services in the portfolio deliver significant value and benefits to the business and users.
  • Demonstrate strong and visible leadership, maintaining employee engagement through performance management, coaching, and talent development. You will also be a leading inspiration to promote our NN Way values.
  • Assess emerging trends, technologies, electronic platforms, and potential digital business opportunities.

 

Qualifications

We are looking for a senior leader who can demonstrate the following qualifications:

 

  • Master’s degree or PhD within natural science, data science, or similar.
  • Experience from the pharmaceutical industry, biotech, or similar.
  • Experienced business leader (leading leaders) within digitalisation and automation.
  • Experience within digital transformation, including development and execution of strategic roadmaps for digital transformation.
  • Knowledge within digital technologies such as data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), IT/OT integration, digital twins, automation, and digital infrastructure.
  • Recognized for your business leadership skills within maturing organisations, connecting with stakeholders, and seeking impact on the business.
  • In addition, you are recognised for your communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization. You work collaboratively across the value chain to align goals and drive results by getting buy-in for digital transformation initiatives.

 

About the area

CMC Digitalisation, the team that you will lead, is part of CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control) Development & Scaling.

CMC acts as the link between research and production, developing, manufacturing, and distributing drug candidates for non-clinical and clinical trials. CMC has several laboratory facilities used for both development work and QC and a range of pilot facilities dedicated to producing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), Drug Product (DP), and Finished Products (FP) for clinical trials.

The team that you will lead, CMC Digitalisation, collaborates across the entire CMC value chain to transform processes from laboratory and development work to product manufacturing. This includes driving large-scale, cross-functional projects such as implementing ERP and MES systems, automatization as well as establishing a robust data foundation and architecture. By developing applications and solutions, we enable the conversion of data into actionable insights, ensuring seamless access to critical CMC information and supporting digital transformation across the organisation.
