The position
As the Vice President and Expert in Chemical Engineering within Emerging Technologies API MSAT&QC, you will advise and implement the engineering operations of new specialized facilities involving synthetic production of APIs at Novo Nordisk and our CDMO network. In addition, you will:
Advise multiple engineering and technical specialty areas within the unit including maintenance and repair, process engineering, mechanical engineering, utilities etc.
Develop and execute long and short-term strategic plans to enhance engineering and technical processes across Novo Nordisk related to specialized synthetic production.
Implement new processes and equipment to remain at the forefront of technology.
Ensure standards of quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness and performance are met in our future production processes and facilities.
Engage and partner with stakeholders internally and externally (e.g. CDMOs)
Oversee technical projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with objectives and timelines.
Be an active member of the newly former ET API MSAT&QC leadership team contributing to the further development of the area.
The role is based in the Greater Copenhagen area. We are open to consider hybrid/commute arrangements.
Qualifications
You are a reputed expert within chemical engineering and technical processes for specialized synthetic production in the pharmaceutical industry. You possess:
10+ years of experience in senior engineering operations and technical roles within a pharmaceutical production environment.
Knowledge of small molecule, synthetic peptide and/or oligonucleotide API facilities
Proven track record for advising on the establishment of new facilities for synthetic production in a pharmaceutical context.
Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and implement new technology in a production context.
Experience leading indirectly and partnering across functions in a complex global matrix setting.
Strong ability to engage stakeholders and translate complex scientific concepts into business/commercial language.
Strong proficiency in project management.
An advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field.
About the area
ET is a newly established Senior Vice President area in Novo Nordisk. We have a growing pipeline of new products, many of which are based on emerging technology platforms coming into Product Supply via internal development projects and externally acquired assets. ET is well known for having a pioneering spirit as well as a curious, daring approach and we play a key role in developing and producing future treatments for millions of patients around the world.
Within ET, our API Manufacturing Science and Technology & Quality Control area comprises of c. 150 dedicated and talented employees, located in Bagsværd (DK), Høje Taastrup (DK), Boston (US) and Petersburg (US). We are responsible for the commercial synthetic API processes at Novo Nordisk (small molecules, synthetic peptides and modified oligonucleotides) and their quality control, internally as well as in collaboration with our CMO network. We are a growing organization with a significant impact on Novo Nordisk future pipeline of new modalities and how to produce and analyse them.
