Vice President of HSE & Operational Excellence

Are you an experienced leader ready to drive the energy transition? As Vice President of HSE & Operational Excellence, you’ll help move the global energy industry from black to green by leading HSE&Q, Innovation and Global Sourcing.

Your position

As Vice President of HSE & Operational Excellence, you will lead a division of approximately 30 dedicated employees, all working to drive operational excellence, foster innovation, and enhance safety across all our global projects. 

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for improving our safety performance, driving quality and project assessments, and increasing focus on innovation - all through operational excellence. This includes optimizing key areas such as sourcing and logistics operations to ensure efficiency and alignment with our overall strategic goals.

This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact by ensuring that our safety, quality, and operational practices lead the way in the energy transition, driving progress in both conventional and renewable energy sectors. Your tasks & responsibilities

With your excellent leadership skills, you will be responsible for leading the strategic direction and execution of our health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSE&Q) initiatives, while driving operational improvements, fostering innovation, and enhancing safety and quality standards across our global operations.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to: 

• Driving operational excellence through continuous process improvement and innovation.
• Leading safety and quality initiatives across all divisions, ensuring that Semco Maritime remains a leader in HSEQ performance.
• Serving as a senior executive representative in major global projects, providing expert guidance in operational excellence and project management.
• Managing innovation strategies, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and practices into our business to stay competitive.
• Supporting the CEO and Senior Management Team in high-level decision-making, including mergers & acquisitions, LEAN initiatives, and cross-divisional collaboration. 
• Overseeing SemPEM (Semco Maritime’s Project Execution Model) operations as Chairman of the board, ensuring strategic alignment and operational success.

Your profile & qualifications 

We are looking for a strategic senior experienced executive leader who is passionate about driving safety, operational excellence, and innovation in the global energy sector. You are organized, strategic, and driven to role-modelling safety leadership, making a lasting impact on the industry.

To succeed in this position, we imagine that you have: 

• A degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
• 15+ years of experience within the energy sector, including both project execution and operations, particularly in offshore environments.
• Proven experience in a senior operations role, with responsibility for multiple key departments, including HSE&Q and supply chain management.
• Solid business understanding, with expertise in managing transition leadership, driving change, and generating good earnings on projects.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to manage complex projects in a matrix organization.
• A strong background in strategy development, particularly within HSE&Q, supply chain management, and operational excellence.
• A proven track record of stakeholder engagement, fostering strong relationships across internal and external partners to align operational strategies with business needs.
