For the Tunnel Element Transport and Immersion activities offshore the FLC Marine Department is looking for skilled and dedicated Work Preparation Methods Engineer to join the Offshore Transport and Immersion work preparation team. 

The Offshore Transport and Immersion work preparation team is responsible for all preparation works regarding the transport and immersion of tunnel elements offshore. This includes coordination with temporary and permanent works design teams, immersion engineering specialists, execution teams as well as specification and procurement of all required equipment. In addition, documentation of the developed working methods in procedures and work method statements including assessment of risks to heath, safety and environment and establishment of inspection and test plans to demonstrate compliance to project contract and offshore standards.

As methods engineer, you will join an enthusiastic team of colleagues with opportunities to develop your knowledge and experience of the execution of offshore marine works. Following the immersion of the first elements the team focus will shift from work preparation to support of the marine operations with opportunities to join the operations offshore. This is what you are pre-pared to do in Denmark (full time or in 4-2 rotation). 

Who is FLC? 

Femern Link Contractors, FLC, is the joint venture responsible for the design and construction of the Northern Europe’s biggest construction project resulting in the longest immersed tunnel in the world. Our joint venture consists of nine international construction companies with individual experience in large infrastructure projects. Together, we are committed to working together to deliver a state-of-the-art immersed tunnel, portals and ramps, delivered on time and safely, in a sustainable and ethical manner. 

Main responsibilities (but not limited to): 

  • During the preparatory phase, you are responsible for the development and detailing of work methods.
  • You document execution methods in work method statements, work procedures and the associated risk assessments and inspection and test plans.
  • You instruct draftspersons to visualise working methods and detailing to the level required to hand over tasks to the execution teams.
  • You Facilitate alignment between design and execution teams, ensuring specifications and data are current and complete.
  • You Communicate and coordinate proactively with execution teams to safeguard constructability and safety.
  • You draft technical specifications and quantities for procurement within the project's contract and design frameworks. This includes marine (mooring) equipment, lifting accessories, specialised immersion equipment and fabrication packages.
  • During the execution phase, you advise during the transport and installation of the elements.
  • You are involved in live weather window monitoring and tracking the progress of the activities offshore.
  • You play a leading role in the run up to the go/no-go decision documenting readiness and coordinating with various preparation teams to confirm the completion of the required checklists.
  • After immersion, you will do reviews to establish lessons learned and optimise working methods to implement optimisations.

Qualifications / Experience: 

  • Specialized vocational knowledge (Civil Engineer with Civil Marine Construction or Offshore Construction specialty or Marine Engineer or Naval Architect) from Vocational Higher Education or University with minimum 5 years of experience as a Work Preparation Engineer, Project Engineer or similar role.
  • You have prior experience with marine or offshore operations. 
  • You have a good understanding of the principles of civil engineering and marine operations. You are willing to make yourself familiar with specialist offshore operational standards such as DNV-ST-N001.
  • You are a hands-on problem solver, not afraid of taking decisions. 
  • You are a team player with strong communication skills.
  • You enjoy working in a very international, multi-cultural work-environment in which communication and team spirit is key to success. 
  • You are willing to work in Denmark, go offshore during immersion operations and willing to do an STCW course. 
  • You are fluent in English.

Work location: 

Based in Rødbyhavn, Lolland, Denmark (full time or in 4 weeks – 2 weeks rotation regime).
